OVERVIEW

Dream Racer is a 2040 performance focused concept car that integrates AI and immersive technology to enhance driver skill through real time feedback, immersive racing simulations, and competitive virtual racing experiences.

BACKGROUND

This project explores how in-vehicle interfaces can adapt to a driver’s cognitive state across the full racing journey, not just during peak performance.

Most racing interfaces are optimized for high-speed scenarios, but they fail to account for transitions before and after driving. This creates a mismatch between the driver’s mental state and the information being presented.

I led the UX vision for an adaptive interface system that responds to these shifts. Working closely with interior and exterior designers, my contributions influenced the cockpit layout, interface behavior, and overall interaction model.

The system is structured around four driving modes, each tailored to a distinct driver state, balancing situational awareness, performance data, and cognitive load.

CHALLENGE

Traditional racing dashboards focus on raw telemetry, which can overwhelm the driver. As an electric vehicle, Dream Racer adds unique dynamics like instant torque, regenerative braking, and energy management.

The challenge was to design an adaptive interface that guides the driver across the full racing journey enhancing situational awareness, supporting decisions, and balancing performance data with intuitive, state-aware interactions.

Driving Modes

I designed 4 distinct driving modes that adapt the interface to each stage of the race day, balancing performance, immersion, and comfort.

Cruise Mode

A simplified interface that prioritizes comfort and essential information while driving to the track.

Track Mode

A focused performance mode displaying real-time racing data and telemetry to support competitive driving.

GT Mode

A competitive racing mode that unlocks real-time performance with virtual drivers, creating an interactive and gamified racing experience.

Relax Mode

A wind-down mode for post-race recovery, with ambient visuals and minimal data to ease the transition after intense driving. The features include:
- Car Diagnostics
- Race highlights
- Full-body health check
