Rivo is a food delivery app designed for the fast-paced life in Lagos, Nigeria, making it simple to discover, customize, and order your favorite meals from local restaurants.
In Lagos, Nigeria, many people struggle with slow, unreliable food delivery services. Traffic congestion, limited restaurant options, and inconsistent delivery times make it hard for users to get their meals quickly and conveniently. Existing platforms also lack personalization and a smooth ordering experience, making the process more frustrating for customers.
How Might We
help users quickly find their preferred meals, track deliveries in real-time, and build trust through reviews and feedback, so that they can enjoy a seamless, reliable, and personalized food delivery experience?
I gathered insights by conducting user interviews and usability tests with friends, colleagues, and family members on competitor food delivery apps like Chowdeck, Glovo, and Jumia Food. This approach revealed valuable insights crucial to enhancing user experience and satisfaction. Their key needs include:
Empathy mapping highlighted the frustrations users face with food delivery apps, particularly slow deliveries, unreliable service, and difficulty finding desired meals. Users like Deji, busy professionals, students, and gym-goers need quick, dependable service and easy meal search options. To meet their needs, Rivo must prioritize fast delivery, good customer service, and incentives to keep users satisfied.
My solution for the food delivery app focuses on making life easier for busy people through three main features:
- live-tracking of deliveries: users can see exactly where their food is and when it will arrive. No more guessing or wondering when the doorbell will ring—it takes the stress out of waiting and helps users plan their time better.
- optimized meal searching: makes finding the right meal quick and easy. Instead of scrolling endlessly through options, users can filter by what they like, their health goals, or how much time they have.
- personalized meal recommendations: go a step further by suggesting meals based on users’ past orders and preferences. It’s like having your own personal assistant who knows what you like to eat, making decision-making easier, and encouraging healthier, more satisfying choices.
For users who might be unsure what to eat, breakfast, lunch, and dinner suggestions are presented on the homepage.
Users can easily search for their meals of choice and view a wide range of restaurants selling.
Users can place group order when ordering with friends or family
The "For someone" feature was added to make it easier for users to place orders for someone without having to change their own delivery information.
Users can track the positions of their deliveries in real time.
This feature would would enable users to share their feedback on both individual meals and restaurants. After receiving their order, users can rate their meals based on taste, freshness, portion size, and overall satisfaction.
